That's really sad news. It sounds like you tried your very best, you certainly gave it a second go a few times by the sounds of it. At least you can identify where you went wrong and can learn from it (and have shared so we can learn from it too)

So dissapointing! I've given up on the dress I was making too. Bit off more than I could chew. I guess we just have to get back in the saddle!!

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that the shirt was a wadder. I always hate to give up on anything, too (most especially when all the problems can be traced back to me, which is my usual situation!!). Sew something easy and quick to get back into the groove!

Oh nooooooooo! This is sad but I'm sure others will benefit from your experience.

That's too bad! It's such a nice-looking pattern. I was about to say trying it again in cotton, or there's also this fabric called peachskin that's still silky but offers a bit more weight.

Agh! Bastard pattern! Don't feel down, you did all you could, even making a toile. I've had a spate of creation disasters recently, I feel you. Do you have a tried and tested quick pattern from which you could run something pleasing up pretty quick?

Thanks for the post. I was searching for places to buy this expensive and OOP pattern and saw your blog about it.

I'm also new to working with silk charmeuse.

I'll now follow your lead and choose a pattern I can succeed with.

How about removing the neck facing, opening up the tucks down the front and either making them smaller, or eliminating 2 of them? That would add some ease and it will fall better. You may have to redo the neck facing and press it to the inside of the garment instead of the outside. It will change the design, but at least the top will be wearable. Fabric looks pretty.
